2017 - Dear World as part of The York Theatre's Musicals in Mufti
February through March
I'm playing the uptight sergeant in Dear World , starring Tyne Daly and a ton of other brilliant people. It's a 1969 Broadway musical with a book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. Based on Jean Giraudoux's play The Madwoman of Chaillot as adapted by Maurice Valency, it focuses on the Countesses Aurelia, Constance and Gabrielle, who deviously scheme to stop businessmen from drilling for oil in the Parisian neighbourhood of Chaillot. The forces of idealism, love and poetry win over those of greed, materialism and science. Tickets can be found at www.yorktheatre.org/buy-tickets.html
2016/17 - Finian's Rainbow at the Irish Rep
October through (now) January!
I'm playing the racist southern senator Rawkins in the groundbreaking 1947 musical that follows an Irishman who steals a feisty leprechaun’s pot of gold and escapes with his daughter, Sharon, to Missitucky, a mythical region in the United States that is part of the Jim Crow South. The daughter and the sprite each find romance with others, but also encounter bigotry, economic disparity and cultural injustice.
